Facebook today have unveiled that they are venturing into the online coupon discount service. Facebook Deals, which has already started in the United States, offers Facebook users deals in retail outlets and posts a notice on their Facebook wall when they claim a deal, publishing the deal to the users’ friends. Facebook Places lets users broadcast their location. By offering Deals,   Facebook are hoping to entice more people to use the location-based service while opening up new revenue opportunities.

Nothing is standing in Facebook’s way it seems.

We have come across a website that is looking to claim the top spot from facebook called Turfster. The site seems to integrate the twitter features and Facebook features as one special wall which is very neat we think. Other features include games naturally, a choice to edit your “turf” as they are aptly naming it so you can have your own design with personalized backgrounds etc.

As you can see from this image it is very user friendly and very simple, the apps are basic with excellent features. Obviously this site is new and has some improvements to make, but the owners are taking comments on board and making improvements all the time. One to watch out for 2011 for sure.

Yes you have heard right! Facebook are launching a new e-mail service to make your life even easier. Mark Zuckerberg read a statement yesterday about the new sevice saying “We spent lot of time building a handful of products to fit what we think the need is in a modern messaging system”.

Zuckerberg insists that it is not trying to put companies like GMail or Hotmail out of business but instead make life easier for facebook users. The new service will of course as you may have guessed have an “@facebook.com” tail for all users, so for example joebloggs@facebook.com. Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it :)

Facebook Email will be released slowly over the next few months so expect to be seeing e-mail messages in your inbox. Imagine all your facebook e-mails being sent specifically to your facebook e-mail account! Bliss.

Everything seems to be Facebook lately………..and low and behold there is now the Facebook movie that has been released this week called “The Social Network”. Apparantly though Mark Zuckerberg isn’t happy with the movie and is claiming that it makes him look too ‘geeky’. Well i think we all must have had that impression about him to be honest but the film is going to be oone to watch. Get out there and watch it……if you can drag yourself away from Facebook that is! :)

Facebook are unveiling a new addition to the Facebook platform that will rival Google in some respect. The new service isn’t a traditional search engine, per se, but it addresses many of the same needs that a search engine does, and thus could pose a threat to Google’s lucrative search empire. The sevice is currently in its beta stage at the moment but Facebook  developers hope that it will soon be released as quickly as possible.

Google boss Eric Schmidt and co-founder Sergey Brin have stressed that Facebook is not a threat for Google, noting that web surfers conduct significantly more searches on Google when they become Facebook users. Facebook Questions is the latest example of the recent trend in online “social search” services.

Thats right facebook have created a site that has all the features of facebook but don’t have the data charges. Visit o.facebook.com to see what all the fuss is about. A manager at facebook said earlier this week…“Today, we are launching … ‘0.facebook.com’. “It, initially, is available through more than 50 mobile operators in 45 countries and territories with zero data charges,”.

Having trouble logging out of facebook now its changed. All you need to do is click on “account” in the top right corner and look at the bottom of the menu for logout. Nightmare i know. Hope this helps
